Forest Bathing, Cacao & Community Wellness in Ashtabula County
Shanti Yoga Love | APR 10
As the seasons begin to shift and we move out of winter’s slower, more inward rhythm, there’s often a natural pull to reconnect — with the outdoors, with others, and with ourselves.
The transition into spring isn’t something to rush. It’s something to notice.
A little more light. A little more warmth. A quiet invitation to step forward again, gently.
At Shanti Yoga Love, this seasonal shift is reflected in the way we practice — not through pressure or intensity, but through intentional, supportive experiences that meet you where you are. Always with choice. Always with respect for your body, your energy, and your lived experience.
One of the ways we explore this connection more deeply is through nature-based practices like forest bathing.
Forest bathing is not about hiking or covering distance. It’s about slowing down enough to truly be present — engaging your senses, noticing your surroundings, and allowing your nervous system to settle in response to the natural world. The pace is unhurried. The experience is personal.
When paired with cacao, the practice takes on an additional layer of warmth and connection. Cacao has long been used in various traditions as a supportive, heart-centered element — something that invites reflection, openness, and a deeper sense of presence. Together, these practices create space not only for individual grounding, but for shared experience.
In a recent gathering, we explored this through the Mayan energy of Kawoq — the energy of abundance, family, and community.
Kawoq reminds us that we are not meant to carry everything alone. It reflects the strength found in connection — the way individuals come together to support something larger than themselves. It also asks us to be mindful of the environments we place ourselves in, and the people we surround ourselves with, recognizing how deeply those connections can shape our well-being.
This idea of community — not as something large or overwhelming, but as something intentional and supportive — continues to guide the way we gather.
We’ve also been closing our practices with a simple loving kindness meditation — beginning with ourselves, then extending outward to those we’ve encountered, and eventually to the wider collective.
It’s a quiet but powerful reminder that what we cultivate within doesn’t stay contained. It moves outward — into our interactions, our communities, and even toward those we may never meet.
And in that exchange, something just as meaningful happens: what we offer has a way of returning.
This has become an important part of our shared practice — a way of grounding, connecting, and contributing to something larger than ourselves. It’s something we’ll continue to carry forward.
Today is a peaceful day.
As we continue moving through the season, we also explore other forms of support.
Aromatherapy is one of the ways we work with the body more directly — using plant-based essential oils to support areas like respiratory health, nervous system regulation, and overall balance. These offerings shift throughout the year to align with seasonal needs, providing practical tools you can carry into your daily life.
You’ll also begin to see a natural evolution in the studio rhythm as the weather continues to warm.
Outdoor practices will return, offering the opportunity to move and breathe in fresh air and natural surroundings. And as we move further into the season, Pilates and Qigong will rejoin the schedule — adding both strengthening and meditative movement practices back into the weekly flow.
Each of these offerings is designed to support you in a different way, while still honoring the same foundation: accessible, intentional, and trauma-informed care.
If you’re feeling drawn to this kind of support — whether through group classes, workshops, or more personalized sessions — you’re always welcome to explore what’s available.
