For a long time, we were taught that strength looks like pushing.
Like enduring.
Like tightening the jaw and pressing forward no matter the cost.

We were taught that softness is fragile.
That tenderness is naïve.
That feeling deeply makes us vulnerable in all the wrong ways.

But lived experience tells a different story.

Softness is not collapse.
Softness is not passivity.
Softness is not giving everything away.

Softness is presence.

Softness is the ability to stay with yourself when it would be easier to disconnect.
Softness is the choice to feel instead of freeze.
To breathe instead of brace.
To listen instead of harden.

Softness is regulation.

A regulated nervous system does not need to dominate.
It does not need to prove.
It does not need to shout.

It simply is.

Softness holds boundaries.
Softness holds discernment.
Softness holds an inner steadiness that cannot be shaken by external noise.

There is a quiet strength in knowing who you are.
In knowing what is yours and what is not.
In choosing integrity over performance.

This is not performative strength.
This is not borrowed strength.
This is embodied strength.

The kind that lives in your breath.
The kind that lives in your posture.
The kind that lives in your ability to remain open without abandoning yourself.

Softness is choosing to stay connected to your heart in a world that rewards disconnection.
Softness is choosing presence in a culture of distraction.
Softness is choosing truth over armor.

And that choice takes courage.

If you are feeling the pull to soften, you are not broken.
You are not behind.
You are not failing.

You are remembering.

Remembering a way of being that is ancient.
Remembering a form of power that has always lived inside you.

Softness is strength.

With light and love,
Leah
